There are a few fun color combinations bouncing around in my head right now.  This board is a mix of one of my favorite combos… orange & blue.  By using a light coral shade of orange and a light turquoise blue you can keep things soft and calm, and throw in a neutral dark brown and off white to balance out the color.

This great color combo would work wonderfully for a casual backyard wedding!

We’re getting a puppy.  Yes, and it might happen in just a couple weeks!  So, things are going to get a bit crazy and hectic around here, but I promise to keep on top of the blog as much as possible.  I also promise that it won’t completely turn into a photo journal of our new furry family member.  Not completely… just a partially!

I’ve never had a dog of my own.  I’ve always been more of a cat person… and I am really excited about this HUGE step up in responsibility.  What I would love is some advice from my readers  So, all you dog people… what should I expect from my baby Boston Terrier????

Oh, and one last thing… check out this link to a great wedding photographers furry friend website!

Now, before you get really excited for me… NO I am not taking a trip to Alaska!  Not any time soon at least.  It is however on the very top of my list of dream destinations and has been there long enough for me to start planning it more than once.  It also isn’t the only trip I have in the planning (daydreaming) stage… so I figured it would be good to share some of planning with my readers!

I know a lot of my readers are brides planning their weddings and of course their honeymoons.  Alaska isn’t the typical sunny beach location that most consider honeymoon worthy, but hey… some couples might need a bit more adventure after they say “I DO”!

The height of tourist season is of course in the summer.  You can see from the pictures below that the “warmer” days allow for a TON of outdoor activities.  I so badly want to hike on the glaciers… seriously, how many people can say they’ve done that?

Most people consider cruising to Alaska.  I have never wanted to try the typical cruise experience. I just don’t think it would be my thing.  However, sign me up for one of the smaller adventure cruises any day!  Two companies that seem to have a great itinerary are National Geographic Explorers and Cruise West.

Of course it is still a vacation… even with all of the adventure!  I think it is probably pretty easy to unwind from a long day with views like these:

I’d love to hear from anyone who has made this exciting trip… so share your tips!  Also, I am going to try to do more of these travel posts… I really do have a list of dream vacations that I should be sharing, so if you have any suggestions please let me know! :)

I found a new hobby this weekend…. paper crafting!  It involves finding a cool template, printing it out on your home computer, carefully cutting and scoring each of the pieces, then folding and gluing everything together.  Yes, some might find it tedious, but I find it quite FUN!  You can see my first three pieces below.

The awesome skeleton gal is from a California artist.  You can check out his other artwork on his website.  You can also download the template I used along with others to test the craft yourself.

The little piggy and box girl can be found here!

Have fun :)

I’m still here!!! I know blog posts have been a bit random and missing the last couple of weeks.  But… thank you to everyone who is still stopping by to check in on me.  I promise everything should be back to normal this weekend, and I’ll have some new fun posts before you know it!

See ya in a bit!

Sarah :)

In honor of my “lovely” trip to the dentist on Monday and the even more “lovely” cold I woke up with on Tuesday I thought it was a good time for a sweet post!  Here are nine of my favorite cakes for you to drool over.  Enjoy.

Working on Chrystal & Dalin’s wedding invitations got me thinking about how I really like the idea of using black as part of a color combination.  I put together this set of images to represent a casual yet elegant design created with black, red, and a touch of gold.  Enjoy.

Reception menus are very popular.  Couples seem to like the ability to personalize their table decor inexpensively and it is nice to let guests know what it is that checking the chicken-steak-fish boxes on their RSVP has gotten them!

These images are of Melissa & Patricks menus for their upcoming June wedding.  We used the custom sand dollar illustration from their invitations and paired it with a great pale gray and custom mixed blue ink.  Enjoy.

I thought it might be nice to share a few step by step images of a recent project I completed for my clients Chrystal and Dalin.  Their invitations were screen printed in black, metallic gold, and a custom mixed deep red.  On the RSVP card each of these colors were printed separately one color at a time.  I love watching the completed project come together… I hope you enjoy this little behind the scenes post!  Watch for portfolio updates in the coming weeks showing the entire invitation set.

Hi Everyone! I’m so happy to see that people are still checking the blog on a daily basis even if I’m a big slacker in the posting department!  Things have been pretty busy around here in the studio, at the office, and in life.   We’ve been researching PUPPIES to expand our already large pet family of two cats, a beta fish, and a salt water reef tank!  I’ll try my best to keep the cute puppy pictures to a minimum of course!

I can’t post without a picture.  So in honor of the expanding animal family I’ll share this photo that our photographer snapped during our wedding at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.  I know it might be weird, but hedgehogs are one of my favorite animals.   Isn’t she just adorable!?

Check back in the morning for some regular blog posting… including pictures of the projects that have been keeping me so busy!
